Yee shall be inscribed in the Book of Face
Confession: I don’t have a Facebook account. It’s not because of recent events concerning Cambridge Analytica, not because of the way that Mr. Mark Zuckerberg and crew might mismanage my private information, nor because of a basic technophobia – I just don’t have the time in my life yet to be scrolling through page upon page of people’s lives keeping up with their trials and tribulations.
I cast no judgement; really just don’t have the room for it right now. That said, I am surrounded by others who do and are kind enough to keep me abreast of the developments in the lives of family, friends and followers. And I’m glad that they have, as it turns out that an event in MY life (reaching the milestone of Maintenance treatment status) has become the stuff of “likes.”
As a result of the posting of the celebratory photo adorning today’s blog, I am the happy, honored and humbled recipient of over 300+ acknowledgments (a combination of the elusive thumbs up and even some truly heart-warming notes). This hasn’t changed my Fb status (I still don’t have an account) for which I apologize for the inability to personally “like back” all of my gracious Fb friends. But if I did, I would struggle to find the words to thank them all for the overwhelming show of love and support that has been bestowed upon me.
Though cyber in nature, their warmth and sincerity (often from people who are friends of friends of friends), is so genuine and meaningful that is has touched me deeply. From the top of my re-growing head to the depths of my newly-minted immune system, I express my deepest gratitude to all those who have taken the time out of their busy lives - to brighten mine.
