For over three years I have worked hard to keep my political opinions to myself and out of these "pages." During that time there have been plenty of domestic and international issues to opine about - but who cares what I think about the world, how it is run, or the people that are in charge. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and I can stand on the sidelines no longer. It's not as though Putin or Zelenskyy or anyone else is going to hear my words, but I do feel it is important for each of us in our own way, to speak our mind about the invasion of Ukraine.

Much like what I can (or can't) do about changing the course of my cancer as just one person (even one person WITH cancer), there is even less that I can do as one person to change the course of action in Ukraine. In a similar analogous vein, the unprovoked attack on Ukraine, and resulting casualties/destruction/suffering are like a cancer invading one's body and causing comparable life-threatening damage. To take the correlation between cancer and Ukraine one step further, I will never heal and my life will never be the same (though I will survive) - so too, Ukraine, it's people and possibly other "infected" areas of Europe will never be the same; scarred unforgettably.

We can all only hope that this international moment of sickness is mitigated soon (more quickly than mine or any other cancer patient's duration of recovery), and recuperation can begin. Regardless, I cannot just stand by, I am compelled to stand up, and point out another kind of cancer that is affecting us all.

PS: Vlady, Ukrainians are Russians, too - so wouldn't it make sense that they would fight just as hard as "Russians" to defend their homeland?!?
